Description
Hakushu Jyu Toshitsuna(伯州住寿綱) was a Japanese swordsmith who was an apprentice of Minryushi Toshizane, a renown swordsmith at the end of the Edo Period. This blade was forged in February, the 12th year of Bunka(1815). Hakushu is the name of the area in Tottori prefecture where Toshitsuna forged swords. Toshitsuna also signed as Ryuenshi Toshitsuna(龍淵子壽綱). The smith name Toshitsuna lasted two generations, and this blade was forged by the first-gen Toshitsuna, who was active in sword forging during 1804-1830 while his son worked during 1844-1864.
His master Toshizane was born as the first son of Hamabe Toshinori(浜部寿格) in 1777 in Tottori prefecture. Toshinori is also a well-known swordsmith who served the Inaba domain, specifically Ikeda Clan in Tottori prefecture. Toshinori learned the sword-forging technique in Bizen province(Okayama prefecture today).
It is said that Toshinori was a friend of Suishinshi Masahide, one of the greatest swordsmiths at the end of the Edo period.
As this blade was registered in Tottori prefecture where this blade was forged, we assume this blade had been preserved by offspring of Samurai for generations.
This blade is appraised as Tokubetsu Hozon certificate issued by NBTHK. This authentication paper was only given to Japanese swords, especially worth preserving by Nihon Bijutsu Touken Hozon Kyokai(the Society for the Preservation of the Japan Art Sword).

Nakago  ：
Nakago is the tang of the Japanese sword.
Japanese swordsmiths left the black rust on the tang because it prevents red rust while the tang is in its handle. And the discoloration of the tang was created over time, and it is a great indicator for a Japanese sword specialist to estimate when the sword was forged.
Koshirae:
Koshirae is the mounting of the Japanese sword. There are several parts that consist of Koshirae such as Saya(Sabbard), Tsuka( Handle), Tsuba(Handguard).
Fuchi-Kashira
：
A pair of matching sword fittings that cover the upper and bottom parts of its sword hilt.
The golden metal is applied to this Fuchi Kashira. The Nami (波, wave) pattern is engraved on the entire surface. Since these waves are engraved semi-three-dimensionally, it seems as if it shows us the actual sea level. As waves' movements continue endlessly, the wave pattern represents eternity, immortality, longevity, and birth, etcetera. Also, since tides change the shape and terrain of rocks repeatedly, some people hoped for a strong will by using this motif. People used this pattern wishing for an indomitable spirit to rechallenge time and time without giving up. This motif has been appreciated, especially for men's Kimono (traditional Japanese costume), thanks to its dynamic design.
Tsuka and Menuki

Tsuka is the handle of the Japanese sword and Menuki is its decoration.
A kind of flower is the motif of this Menuki. It might be Japanese apricot blossoms. Each petal is carefully carved and expresses its adorable shape. Its flower begins to bloom in winter that snow still covers its tree. So, people thought this flower tells the arrival of spring. In Japan, it has been appreciated for a long time ago. People also enjoy its scent, gracefully branched tree, and compose many poems. As it comes out in the cold season, it symbolizes the power of perseverance and vitality.
Tsuba and Habaki
:
Tsuba is the handguard for the Japanese Sword and Habaki is the equipment to make the blade not touch its scabbard inside.It prevents the blade from getting rusty and chipped.
An antique Tsuba made from iron. Two fans are arranged at the top and the bottom of the Tsuba. You would enjoy its symmetrical design. The fan motif has been favored as an auspicious pattern representing development and prosperity. A fan has a characteristic shape that is called Suehirogari (末広がり) in Japanese. Based on the idea, people thought this shape implies a perspective of the future. Japanese people appreciate this design. The fan pattern also represents wealth because it was once available only for high-ranked people.

Saya is the scabbard for the Japanese sword.

NBTHK Tokubetsu Hozon Certificate for the blade
NBTHK, also known as Nihon Bijutsu Touken Hozon Kyokai (the Society for the Preservation of the Japan Art Sword), is one of the oldest Japanese sword appraising organizations in modern-day Japan. They authenticated the blade on
Feb 25th in the third year of Reiwa (2021).
They appraised it as Hozon Touken, the blade worth preserving for Japanese society. The purchaser will receive this original certificate as well.

The Board of Education in Tottori prefecture issued a registration paper for this sword . In order to obtain this paper, the sword needs to be traditionally hand forged. With this paper, its owner can legally own an authentic Japanese sword in Japan.
We will send this paper to the board of education once the sword is exported. The purchaser will receive a copy of the registration paper.

Japanese sword  is registered under t
he Agency for Cultural Affairs and
the Board of Education in Japan. They issue a registration paper for each Japanese sword for the owner in Japan to legally possess it.
After receiving the full payment from you, we will return the registration paper to the Board of Education and apply for its permit to Agency for Cultural Affairs(Bunkacho) to legally export the sword from Japan to other countries
. It normally takes around 1-1.5 months to receive
this permit. And we would like you to expect at least 2-3 months for your order to arrive at your given address after you ordered.

as long as we can send antique Japanese swords by either EMS or FedEx(Canada).
We normally ship by EMS(Express Mail Service) provided by Japan Post. When we receive an order from the Canada we will use
FedEx
instead as EMS temporarily stops shipping from Japan to this countries due to the pandemic in the world.
We will send you a tracking number for your order as soon as we hand it to the post office/FedEx. We will put 100 % insurance on the shipping document without any extra charge. Based on the total amount, there might be a duty tax for you to pay, depending on the countries. We use package cushioning to protect the item and put it in a PVC pipe, which is one of the most secure packages because of its durability.
It will normally takes 5-14 days for the item to arrive at your given address after we dispatch it. Time of delivery is estimated as accurately as possible by the carrier but does not take into account any delays beyond our control such as by inclement weather, post office holiday seasons.
