    Description

    British Parliament 1925 Vintage Lithograph
    Modern Natural History
    Print
It is virtually impossible to find an original Renard engraving.
    This modern,
single (blank on reverse) art print
has a stunning colorful and surreal illustration of
fishes found in Moluccas (Indonesia) and the East Indies by Louis Renard (1678 -1746) from
    Poissons Ecrevisses et Crabes...
(1719, 1754 and 1782) and better known as
    Histoire Naturelle
    or
    Natuurlyke Historie
. This illustration is most likely from the 1782 edition, based on rarity of the 1719 (14 known copies) and 1754 (6 known copies) editions.
The illustration was drawn by Samuel Fallours, an artist employed by the Dutch East India Company.
This would be perfect for adding to a home decor.
It is in very nice condition with nice detail.
    Please note that while
    this
print is near excellent, it presents the
    age faults
    in the original print.

The Nature of Prints & Engravings
: It was not until the 20th century that prints were commonly produced for the
    print
itself. Prior to this, virtually all prints (and engravings) were produced as
    illustrations
to be included in a manuscript, book, newspaper, or pamphlet. Therefore, a vast majority of original prints have been over the years removed from these original sources. Prints are produced using many different techniques:
    relief printing
    (woodcut & wood engraving),
    intaglio printing
(steel & copper plate engraving, drypoint, aquatint, etc), and
    planographic printing
(lithography, serigraphy, inkjet, laser, etc.).  While the commercial value of a print depends on such factors as age, rarity, and condition, the real value of a print is its tie to its history and/or its esthetic beauty.
